Silk Touch
Mined blocks drop themselves instead of their usual drops (e.g., stone instead of cobblestone).
Overview
Silk Touch is a very rare mining enchantment in Minecraft 1.21. Silk Touch makes blocks drop as their exact selves instead of their usual broken form, letting you collect things that normally shatter or transform when mined.
There is only one level to it, so nothing needs upgrading — the instant it goes on your pickaxe you have the whole effect (Blocks drop themselves (glass, stone, ores, etc.)).
Effects Per Level
Max Level & Effect Scaling
Silk Touch exists at a single level only, so there is no scaling curve to climb — applying it to your pickaxe hands you the complete effect in one step, with no Silk Touch II to chase.
It is a single-level enchantment with no scaling — a block either comes up intact or it does not. What it unlocks is wide: glass, ice, grass blocks, mycelium, coral, sea lanterns, bookshelves, ore blocks and even an ender chest all survive the harvest.

Incompatible With
These enchantments cannot be combined with Silk Touch on the same item.
Compatibility & Conflicts
Silk Touch can be placed on pickaxe, shovel, axe and hoe, giving you a handful of choices for where it does the most good depending on how you play.
Silk Touch cannot share an item with Fortune. Because of that single conflict you have to pick either Silk Touch or Fortune for any given item — never both.
How to Obtain
How to Get It
Silk Touch can be rolled directly at an enchanting table, where reaching its top level of I on a pickaxe generally wants a fully bookshelf-powered table at roughly level 11. Players who would rather not gamble for Silk Touch can hunt the book down through loot chest and villager trading and apply it at an anvil.
Its selection weight of 1 makes Silk Touch a very rare roll: it surfaces only now and then on a pickaxe, so you may need to re-roll several times or simply trade a villager for the book.
Tips & Best Combinations
Indispensable for builders and collectors, but it directly conflicts with Fortune, so the standard approach is to keep two tools: a Silk Touch pickaxe for blocks you want whole and a Fortune pickaxe for ore yields. A few targets — spawners and budding amethyst — resist it entirely.
For the strongest setup, pair Silk Touch with Efficiency, Unbreaking and Mending — the durability enchantments in particular keep the item alive long enough to make the investment worthwhile.
Worth remembering: allows collecting glass, ice, mycelium, grass blocks, coral, ender chests (without losing obsidian), and ore blocks themselves. Does not work on spawners or budding amethyst.
