Infinity

Prevents regular arrows from being consumed when shot. Requires at least one arrow in inventory.

Overview

Infinity is a very rare ranged enchantment in Minecraft 1.21. Infinity lets a bow fire ordinary arrows without consuming them, so a single arrow in your inventory becomes an unlimited supply for that bow.

There is only one level to it, so nothing needs upgrading — the instant it goes on your bow you have the whole effect (Regular arrows are not consumed (still need 1 arrow in inventory)).

Max Level & Effect Scaling

Infinity exists at a single level only, so there is no scaling curve to climb — applying it to your bow hands you the complete effect in one step, with no Infinity II to chase.

It has just one level and no scaling — you either have endless regular arrows or you do not. The one catch is that it works only with plain arrows; tipped and spectral arrows are still used up normally.

These enchantments cannot be combined with Infinity on the same item.

Compatibility & Conflicts

Infinity fits exactly one item — the bow — and nothing else will accept it, so it is a dedicated bow enchantment through and through.

Infinity cannot share a bow with Mending. Because of that single conflict you have to pick either Infinity or Mending for any given bow — never both.

How to Get It

Infinity can be rolled directly at an enchanting table, where reaching its top level of I on a bow generally wants a fully bookshelf-powered table at roughly level 11. Should the table prove stingy with Infinity, you can instead source the book from loot chest and villager trading and anvil it on.

Its selection weight of 1 makes Infinity a very rare roll: it surfaces only now and then on a bow, so you may need to re-roll several times or simply trade a villager for the book.

Tips & Best Combinations

A quality-of-life staple for any survival bow you do not plan to repair with Mending. Carrying one arrow and never running dry is liberating for exploration and defence. The trade-off is the hard conflict with Mending, which forces a permanent choice between infinite ammo and an unbreakable bow.

For the strongest setup, pair Infinity with Power, Flame, Punch and Unbreaking — the durability enchantments in particular keep the item alive long enough to make the investment worthwhile.

Keep in mind: only works with regular arrows, not tipped or spectral arrows. Incompatible with Mending, so the bow will eventually break.

Infinity FAQ

What is the maximum level of Infinity in Minecraft?
Infinity is a single-level enchantment — there is no Infinity II in vanilla, so once it is on your bow you already have everything it offers.
How do you get Infinity in survival?
The easiest source of Infinity is the enchanting table — a bookshelf-maxed table can offer level I from about experience level 11. If the rolls go against you, look for the Infinity book among loot chest and villager trading, then apply it with an anvil.
Which items can Infinity go on?
Just the bow — Infinity is exclusive to it in vanilla 1.21, and you will not be able to apply the enchantment to anything else.
Why can't I put Infinity and Mending on the same bow?
They are mutually exclusive in vanilla Minecraft. The design intent is that an Infinity bow eventually wears out, while a Mending bow keeps itself repaired but still consumes arrows — you have to pick one identity for the bow.
Does Infinity work with tipped or spectral arrows?
No. Only standard arrows are duplicated for free; tipped arrows (potion arrows) and spectral arrows are always consumed, so you still need to carry stacks of those.
