Channeling
Summons a lightning bolt when a mob is hit with the thrown trident during a thunderstorm.
Overview
Channeling is a very rare ranged enchantment in Minecraft 1.21. Channeling calls down a lightning bolt onto any mob your thrown trident hits, but only during a thunderstorm and only if the target is exposed to the open sky.
There is only one level to it, so nothing needs upgrading — the instant it goes on your trident you have the whole effect (Summons lightning on hit during thunderstorms).
Effects Per Level
Max Level & Effect Scaling
Channeling exists at a single level only, so there is no scaling curve to climb — applying it to your trident hands you the complete effect in one step, with no Channeling II to chase.
It has a single level with no scaling. When the conditions line up, the strike can do dramatic things: it turns creepers into charged creepers, villagers into witches, pigs into zombified piglins and toggles a mooshroom's colour.

Incompatible With
These enchantments cannot be combined with Channeling on the same item.
Compatibility & Conflicts
Channeling fits exactly one item — the trident — and nothing else will accept it, so it is a dedicated trident enchantment through and through.
Channeling cannot share a trident with Riptide. Because of that single conflict you have to pick either Channeling or Riptide for any given trident — never both.
How to Obtain
How to Get It
Channeling can be rolled directly at an enchanting table, where reaching its top level of I on a trident generally wants a fully bookshelf-powered table at roughly level 5. When the enchanting table refuses to offer Channeling, the same enchantment is available as a book from loot chest and villager trading for anvil application.
Its selection weight of 1 makes Channeling a very rare roll: it surfaces only now and then on a trident, so you may need to re-roll several times or simply trade a villager for the book.
Tips & Best Combinations
A spectacle enchantment with real utility for farmers — it is the cleanest way to make charged creepers for mob-head farming. It is highly conditional, though, working only in thunderstorms under open sky, and it conflicts with Riptide, so most players pair it with Loyalty on a dedicated storm trident.
For the strongest setup, pair Channeling with Loyalty, Impaling, Unbreaking and Mending — the durability enchantments in particular keep the item alive long enough to make the investment worthwhile.
A practical note: only works during thunderstorms and only on mobs that are exposed to the sky. Converts creepers into charged creepers, villagers into witches, pigs into zombified piglins, and mooshrooms switch type.
