Loyalty
Causes the trident to return to the player after being thrown.
Overview
Loyalty is an uncommon ranged enchantment in Minecraft 1.21. Loyalty makes a thrown trident fly back to your hand after it lands, so you can use it as a ranged weapon without losing it.
Its opening level already delivers a noticeable boost — Trident returns slowly — and it climbs from there to a maximum of level 3 (III) on your trident.
Effects Per Level
Max Level & Effect Scaling
Loyalty tops out at level 3, shown as III on the trident, and the gap between the levels is where the enchantment's character really lives.
Its three levels govern only the return speed — higher levels bring the trident back faster. The mechanic itself is binary: at any level the trident comes home, as long as you have not thrown it into the void.

Incompatible With
These enchantments cannot be combined with Loyalty on the same item.
Compatibility & Conflicts
Loyalty fits exactly one item — the trident — and nothing else will accept it, so it is a dedicated trident enchantment through and through.
Loyalty cannot share a trident with Riptide. Because of that single conflict you have to pick either Loyalty or Riptide for any given trident — never both.
How to Obtain
How to Get It
Loyalty can be rolled directly at an enchanting table, where reaching its top level of III on a trident generally wants a fully bookshelf-powered table at roughly level 5. If the table is not cooperating, the Loyalty book also comes from loot chest and villager trading, ready to apply on an anvil.
Its selection weight of 5 makes Loyalty an uncommon roll: it appears with middling frequency when enchanting a trident — common enough to plan around, but not guaranteed on any given roll.
Tips & Best Combinations
Effectively required to use a trident as a throwing weapon at all — without it, every throw means walking to fetch your weapon. Loyalty III is the comfortable default. Its only conflict is Riptide, which represents the opposite, melee-launch playstyle.
For the strongest setup, pair Loyalty with Channeling, Impaling, Unbreaking and Mending — the durability enchantments in particular keep the item alive long enough to make the investment worthwhile.
One detail to keep in mind: higher levels make the trident return faster. If the player dies while the trident is returning, it drops as an item. The trident does not return if thrown into the void.
